Jenna Moore

Well hello! Thank you so much for your desire to find out more about me. I could never put into words how excited I am that this page exists! My hope is that in reading my story, you will find something to relate to, and that it brings you peace within your own journey forward.

When I was a kid, I was overweight. I did not like healthy foods, and I hated anything that had to do with making my heart pump faster than it did when I would sit on the couch and eat my junk food. Guys, I tried everything. High protein diets, low calorie diets, Weight Watchers, juicing, fasting…it was grueling! And year after year, the grip on my weight continued to slip from underneath my white-knuckled grasp.


At 19 years old, I weighed almost 200 pounds. I found a BMI calculator online, and when I put my weight and height in, I remember reading the word “obese” on the screen. The sensation of hopelessness I felt was suffocating. I had no ideas left, no love for anything, and therefore no aspirations. So I dropped out of college and went toward the one thing that I knew I did love: New York City.

On the first morning that I had in New York, I sat down in Dean & Deluca at Rockefeller center and decided that I was going to choose what I wanted to do with my life. I had a notebook, and inside it I wrote things that I considered having as a career. I wrote down things like “doctor”, “lawyer”, “singer”, “actor”, “dancer”…and towards the bottom of the list I wrote “nutritionist”. One by one, I explored the lives that I could have had – the futures that were possible. And one by one, I slowly crossed out each life that I decided wasn’t for me.

I worked around the word “nutritionist” for quite some time until eventually my reluctance frustrated me and I faced it head on. I told myself, “Why in the world did I even put ‘nutritionist’ on this list in the first place!? This is something I know nothing about!” As you may have guessed, food had been my greatest weakness for most of my life. The very idea of diving into it through a college curriculum did nothing but terrify me!

I turned around, and saw the most breathtaking view I had ever seen. I looked down and saw every step that I had taken to get to this summit. And ever so effortlessly, these words flooded my mind: “I am going to do this for the rest of my life.”

But then I realized something… That is exactly why you go to school – to learn. And I decided on that day, that if I could go to school and learn about nutrition, and it worked for me, then I could most definitely  teach others how to do the same.

Along the way to my degree, I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience. My friends had decided to do a midnight hike, which sounded just terrible to me in every way. Remember, I HATED exercise! And for the entire hike up the mountain, it was awful. I was tired and out of breath and angry! So I wandered away from my friends and went off on my own into the middle of the night on this mountain trail. It just so happened to be a night that there was a full moon. The path was dark, but I could see that there was a summit ahead. I walked to the top, completely exhausted, and turned around to a view that would change my life forever.

So funny story, and maybe it’s self-fulfilling, but ever since I was young, my parents have told me that some of my first words were “climb mountain”. I never thought when I was young that it meant anything, but today those words are what I live for. As of September 2021, I have climbed all 58 of the Colorado 14ers, and I am constantly losing myself in the wonders of the trails in Colorado Springs including the Manitou Incline, Seven Bridges, and Blodgett Peak.

Today, as a registered dietitian and certified specialist in sports dietetics, I sit in front of my computer screen to tell you with everything in me that I have taken my greatest weakness and have made it my greatest strength. I have lost over 50 pounds since that day, not through diets, fad meal plans or unsustainable workout programs, but through learning what food really is, and falling in love with something that I actually want to do every day for the rest of my life.

I have fulfilled the first half of my life decision by becoming an expert in nutrition. Now, I want nothing more than to fulfill the other half by showing others how to do the same. I will tell you with honesty that becoming healthy has never been easy for me…But it was absolutely worth it. In fact, it was more than worth it. And I know you will feel the same when you are successful as well.

By far and away, the best part about working at INC for me is the people. I adore the people I work with and work for!!

It is clear to me that INC makes a difference in our client’s lives by building a positive culture around food.

What does the correlation between nutrition & mental health mean to you?

The correlation between nutrition & mental health, I believe, is so simple. Our minds produce good things when we consume good things – good things for both our body AND mind!!! If we can make peace with our balance between the two then we are really getting at what INC is all about!!!
